When first investigating a landscaping project with special requirements we like to take a step back and look at the bigger picture; are there different or better ways to achieve what the customer has asked for AND make better use of the available space? Sometimes this can be quick and simple, occasionally it takes a little more thought but every time we fully involve the customer in the process and deliver fully drawn up plans to ensure everyone understands how we will be going about transforming the space.
From custom tree houses, play houses and planters to transforming bare open ground and large custom projects, Pro-mats have the skills, vision and above all, enthusiasm to complete any task.

When this customer first contacted Pro-mats they had three basic requirements and a set budget. The requirements were to have artificial grass, decking and to somehow make her sloping garden level (ensuring that it's all child friendly of course). The above Before picture shows the extent of the slope and the task we were faced with.
Pro-mats conducted a site survey, measured up the area and talked through some possibilities with the customer. We then went away and came up with several different plans for them to make the most of the space and their budget. We then talked these through and came up with the final plan of action.... including a promise that the garden would be completed in time for their daughters first birthday!
Phase One: Drop the ground level next to the patio and pull the earth back into the centre of the garden. Dig trenches, again pushing the excavated soil into the centre of the garden, cut to size and install a curved retaining sleeper wall.
Phase Two: Install the decking framework with external posts to take 6ft privacy trellis fence panels.
Phase Three: Install the decking boards, steps and trellis, adding curved edges to two of the decking sides, mirroring the curve of the sleeper wall.
Phase Four: Install artificial grass to the main garden area and build the curved sleeper edged step.
The Result: A low-maintenance, child-friendly garden that feels fresh and is a relaxing place to be. There are areas for children to play and for adult entertaining. The customer was over the moon with the results and it was completed in less than two weeks, a full 2 days ahead of schedule and before their daughters first birthday party.
When this customer first contacted Pro-mats they had an area at the bottom of their garden that was overgrown and unused. Having two young boys they asked if something could be done to make the area safe and if we had any ideas about their old shed.
Pro-mats visited with samples and measured the area and shed. We then set about drawing up different ideas for the shed, adding in as much detail as possible. After some thought and consultation the plan to build a fort for the boys was finalised - and we were just as excited to start the project as the boys were!
Phase One: Complete garden clearance, including the removal of several tree stumps (hidden by vegetation), install new fencing panels and clean out the shed.
Phase Two: Re-felt the shed roof and install a framework around the outside of the shed and clad with 5inch board.
Phase Three: Paint the shed door and window frame, cut sentry holes through the shed and cladding, inserting child-safe perspex to prevent draughts and build a toy box/seat inside the shed.
Phase Four: Install artificial grass to the outside space as well as on the shed floor, install the flag and pole, hang shields on the inside of the shed and build a 3ft fence and gate to help prevent accidental falls from the middle section of the garden.
The Result: A fantastic new addition to the garden that the boys will enjoy playing in for many years to come. The customers themselves were delighted with the transformation and said "It changed their lives!" - All in a day's work for Pro-mats ;)
This customer contacted Pro-mats with a clear idea of what they were after; a four meter Indian Sandstone patio circle and an extensive deck area bordering multiple aspects of the rear of their home.
Pro-mats measured up the area and drew up complete decking frame plans. After some short talks, the customer decided to extended the decking even further and agreed the budget.
Phase One: Remove two brick planters and the extensive concrete slab patio.
Phase Two: Install the patio circle and the two tiered decking frame.
Phase Three: Lift the lawn 2 meters around the lower deck, excavate the sub-soil and re-lay the turf, dropping the edge of the lawn below the level of the lower deck.
Phase Four: Install two Indian Sandstone pathways and the decking boards.
Phase Five: Add gravel around the Indian Sandstone patio circle and stain the decking.
The Result: An impressive house with a problem patio area has been tranformed, now boasting an equally impressive, two-tiered decking area, feature stone patio circle and stone side pathways. The customer was very impressed with the Pro-mats team and their attention to detail and are extremely happy with their new decking feature.
By the time this customer first contacted Pro-mats they had already engaged a company to build a large summer house to house their jacuzzi and asked for quotations from other Landscape companies which did little to inspire.
Mr & Mrs Lumb said they knew they wanted a sunken decking area, artificial grass and possibly a water feature in the far corner. Pro-mats provided complete garden designs including specific details of what we could achieve with the feature areas. The customer was very pleased with our ideas and couldn't wait for us to start.
Phase One: Finish digging out the sunken decking area and cut to size and install the green treated sleeper walls.
Phase Two: Install the decking frame and curved sleeper faced steps with Indian Sandstone tops and inset lights.
Phase Three: Install the decking frame around the water feature and build a custom made seat out of sleepers.
Phase Four: Clad the decking frames, install the water feature and lights into the rear face of the water feature sleeper curve.
Phase Five: Build a custom made bench in the jacuzzi changing room, add white stone chippings in the borders and install the artificial grass.
Phase Six: Build and Install custom made glass railings around the sunken decking area.
The Result: A Large garden transformed into a low-maintenance space suitable for the customers two dogs and children as well as having a comfortable adult entertaining space with dual aspect feature areas - The bench is extremely comfortable to sit and relax on as well.
